ABSTRACT
It had been known since the middle of the 18th century that the physical properties of many substances varied with their method of isolation, and so the properties of these solids were studied to the fullest extent possible with the characterization tools. This entry provides a discussion on theoretical concepts relating to polymorphism and solvatomorphism as well as a review of structural aspects and solubility.
