ABSTRACT
Infrared (IR) spectroscopy refers broadly to the study of the interaction between matter and infrared radiation. Infrared radiation falls in the region between the visible and microwave parts of the electromagnetic spectrum. This entry illustrates some of the fundamental principles, instrumentation, and current applications of IR spectroscopy.
