ABSTRACT
A suspension is a type of dispersion or dispersed system comprising a solid phase distributed uniformly throughout a continuous external phase, called the suspending medium or vehicle, in which it is not soluble. A pharmaceutical solid being formulated as an aqueous suspension will typically have low aqueous solubility and be hydrophobic. This entry is focused on the characteristics of pharmaceutical suspensions of a hydrophobic drug substance in an aqueous liquid vehicle.
