ABSTRACT
Applications for planning permission which are likely to affect the character or appearance of a conservation area must be advertised by the local planning authority (s 73) by a notice on the site and an advertisement in a local newspaper. When considering the application, the local planning authority must pay special attention to the desirability of preserving or enhancing the character or appearance of the area (s 72).
