Several questions can be posed in the light of this discussion. (a) Whose needs are we serving in these cases? Is it the mother ’s, the
commissioning couple’s or the child’s needs? The cases suggest that the child’s needs might be subservient to those of the commissioning parents and even overshadowed by the surrogate’s claims.
