ABSTRACT
When construction on these projects began, the local authorities developing the sites were faced with the problems of ground contaminated by the previous occupancy. In order to provide guidance in these circumstances, the Department of the Environment, in association with the Building Research Establishment and other organisations, formed the Interdepartmental Committee on the Reclamation of Contaminated Land (ICRCL).
