Agreements with third countries

The ECJ applies agreements with third countries as an integral part of EC law. There are three types of agreement:

• agreements between the EC and one or more third country; • ‘mixed’ agreements between the EC and Member States on the one

hand and third countries on the other; • agreements between Member States and third countries which are

only part of EC law in exceptional circumstances.
