ABSTRACT

A private company must have at least one director (s 282). Any person (including a company) can act as a director of a company, provided that he is not the subject of a disqualification order made by the court pursuant to the Company Directors Disqualification Act 1986. There is no minimum or maximum age for the appointment of a director, although if a minor is appointed as a director, whilst he would be able to contract on behalf of the company, the company or any third party would not be able to enforce contracts against him personally.
