ABSTRACT

Schemes, rules or methods for performing a mental act, playing a game or doing business, or a program for a computer and the presentation of information are excluded. Again, it is possible to find cases where the presence of a technical element has made a difference (s 2(1)(c)). Diverse examples include camouflage painting (T’s Application (1920)); a method of arranging buoys for navigational purposes (W’s Application (1914)); an installation for distributing utilities services on a housing estate (Hillier ’s Application (1969)); or a new pack of cards for Canasta (Cobianchi’s Application (1953)).
