ABSTRACT
The relationship between lawyer and client is a legal relationship, not surprisingly, based upon a contract. The lawyer’s retainer to act for the client is the contract, whereby in return for the client’s offer to engage the lawyer, the lawyer expressly (or impliedly) agrees to perform certain obligations for the client.
