ABSTRACT

Certain types of proceedings are treated as specialist proceedings under the CPR. These are admiralty proceedings, arbitration proceedings, commercial and mercantile actions, Patents Court business, Technology and Construction Court business, proceedings under the Companies Acts 1985 and 1989 and contentious probate proceedings (r 49.2). Although the CPR apply to these specialist proceedings, they do so only in so far as they are not inconsistent with separate practice directions for each type of specialist proceedings (r 49.1).
