Your freedom to associate, meet and demonstrate

It is often said, usually in exasperation, that you can choose your friends but you cannot choose your family. Whatever the merits of this saying, we should note that your freedom to choose your friends, people with whom you would wish to associate, is tempered by legal restriction. There are certain categories of people that the State wishes to prevent you from associating with, for the better running of society in general.
