ABSTRACT
Some territorial limits on the scope of this offence are imposed by the legislation.87 Thus, for an offence to have been committed under the provisions outlined in para 10-18 above, the statement, promise or forecast must be made in or from the United Kingdom, or the facts must be concealed in or from the United Kingdom;88 the person on whom the inducement is intended to or may have effect is in the United Kingdom;89 or the investment agreement is or would be entered into or the rights conferred by the investment are or would be exercised in the United Kingdom.90 For the offence of market manipulation91 to be applicable, the act in question must be done, or the course of conduct must be engaged in, in the United Kingdom,92 or the false or misleading impression must be created in the United Kingdom.93
