ABSTRACT
Overview Civil law, in contrast to criminal and administrative law, regulates the conduct of persons in their direct relations with each other. The 1929 Royal Commission on the Police made it quite clear that police officers are answerable to the courts in the same way as any other citizen; thus if a constable infringes the rights of another citizen he will be accountable to the courts.
