ABSTRACT
Applications for licences to sell alcohol under the Licensing Act 1964 are superficially fairly straightforward and may seem to some like money for old rope, but beware lest you are lulled into a false sense of security. Licensing justices have a great deal of scope to write their own script and the underlying law can get complicated.
