ABSTRACT
Most publications use coated stock – paper coated in a fine clay compound to seal the surface. This looks crisp, enhances contrast and provides sharp line definition. A matt finish is good for text, in that there is no reflected glare from the page, while gloss can enhance the colours in a photograph. Gloss is also often cheaper.
