ABSTRACT
Defibrillation is most likely to be successful if undertaken early. Unfortunately, however, defibrillators are only available in hospitals or aboard specially equipped ambulances. Even given a rapid response time by an emergency vehicle equipped with a defibrillator and manned by personnel trained in its use, in the majority of cases it is unlikely that DC counter shock will be available in less than five to ten minutes from the time of the observed collapse.
