ABSTRACT
These terms are self-evident. The decision to treat or not to treat depends on the natural history of the condition and the evidence for efficacy for particular treatments. Has the correct treatment been applied? Was there undue and unnecessary delay in implementing treatment? These questions figure prominently in litigation for medical malpractice, therefore it will be appropriate to indicate some guidelines for intervention and time-scales.
