ABSTRACT
A 48 year old woman with varicose veins involving both legs was referred by her general practitioner to hospital. She was seen by a locum consultant surgeon, who noted that she had bilateral sapheno-femoral junction reflux, together with left short saphenous vein reflux, and her name was to be placed on the waiting list for ligation of these vessels.
