However, the view of what specific rights exist and more importantly the interpretation of the extent of such rights may well differ according to the particular economic, social and cultural society in which they are being defined. Thus, while it may be comparatively easy to obtain global agreement that human rights are ‘a good thing’ the task of reaching consensus on the articulation of particular rights has proved, and is still proving, far more difficult.
