ABSTRACT
At various stages of the criminal justice system both the accused and the prosecution can appeal against a decision. ‘Appeal’ is given its broad meaning to include not only traditional areas of appeal but also judicial review and the influence of the European Convention on Human Rights 1950. This chapter will look at issues relating to police accountability, the avenues open to your client where he or she has been the victim of unlawful police conduct.
