ABSTRACT
Normative jurisprudence is that branch of enquiry concerned with the validity of the law, rather than with, say, its structure or efficacy. It involves evaluations and judgments in relation to fundamental criteria. Theories of natural law, which seek to discover criteria and enunciate relevant value-statements, constitute an enduring aspect of Western jurisprudence. The following statements give an indication of some of the essential basic features of natural law.
