ABSTRACT

The German rules governing conflicts of laws (private international law) are set out in Articles 3-38 of the Introductory Law to the Civil Code (the ‘Einführungsgesetz zum BGB’ (EGBGB)). They specify the applicable legal system (law) where a case has a connection to the law of a foreign state (Article 3(i), 1st sentence).
