ABSTRACT

On 26 July 2001, The Final Report of the Company Law Review was published. The Final Report made a number of recommendations aimed at supporting the creation, growth and international competitiveness of British companies and providing fair and proportionate regulation for companies. For financial services companies, The Final Report is not the only significant development from a governance and competitiveness aspect. Of greater immediate significance is the new Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, which came into force on 1 December 2001.
