Freedom from discrimination Article 13 of the EC Treaty provides for non-discrimination in relation to sex, racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, age or sexual orientation. Measures to combat discrimination under Article 13 have been undertaken by the Council of the EU. The resultant Directives are capable of being directly enforceable by individuals.25
