ABSTRACT
The Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 (see clause 1.3 below) states that if you die without making reasonable financial provision for your family and dependants, they can make a claim on your estate. Also ‘dependants’ include your ex-spouse, unless:
❍ they have remarried; or
❍ a court order has excluded their rights under the Act.
