ABSTRACT
In a real emergency there is no realistic alternative to instructing a solicitor to go to court to get an injunction – a court order to protect you from your spouse’s violent behaviour and/or bar your spouse from the family home. You may need to go to court with your papers in one hand and your solicitor in the other. Hopefully by the end of the day you will have your injunction, often with police powers attached (which means the police can arrest your spouse if they try it on again).
