We will assume that the court allocates your claim to the small claims track. Small claims courts are fairly informal. The case will normally be heard in the judge’s chambers, which in practice means a book-lined room with a desk for the judge and a table where you, the debtor and any witnesses sit. As the claimant, you will normally sit on the right-hand side of the table as you look at the judge.
