ABSTRACT
The doctrine of legitimate expectation is closely tied to the principles of natural justice, since a legitimate expectation that a right will be granted (or will continue) may create a requirement that the principles of natural justice be observed. Many decided cases involve legitimate expectation that a particular procedure will be followed – for example, that a particular person or body will be consulted before a decision is made.
