ABSTRACT
The UK entered the then European Economic Community, European Coal and Steel Community and EURATOM on 1 January 1973 under the terms of the European Communities Act (ECA) 1972, which ratified the earlier Treaty of Accession and made provision for the incorporation of EC law into national law.
