ABSTRACT
The Professional Arbitration on Court Terms scheme is offered by the Law Society and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors as an alternative to the parties having to ask the court to determine disputes in unopposed lease renewals. It provides the parties with a means of having disputes over the terms and rent decided by a surveyor or a solicitor, acting as either an arbitrator or an independent expert. Its use is purely voluntary and neither party can force the other to agree to it being used.
