Part (a) Criminal damage Stanley may be charged with criminal damage contrary to s 1(1) of the Criminal Damage Act 1971 (‘simple damage’) and damaging property being reckless as to whether the life of another would be endangered contrary to s 1(2) (‘dangerous damage’). Where an offence is committed by fire, then it is charged as arson (s 1(3)), punishable with life imprisonment (s 4(1)).
