ABSTRACT
In order for any law enforcement organisation to function efficiently and effectively it is essential that it employs those individuals who are best suited to the complex task of policing. Police organisations need to ensure that they employ the sort of individual who possesses those qualities that are deemed to be essential to the job. They must, however, avoid recruiting any individual who possesses qualities that are deemed to be unacceptable to the police organisation.
