ABSTRACT

The Institute of Criminology of the University of Heidelberg has been engaged in a research project on behalf of the Bavarian Ministry of Justice on re-offending rates among defendants who had taken part in model tests on victim-offender mediation (VOM) in the juvenile criminal justice system in Munich and Landshut, as well as in model tests in the adult criminal justice system in Nuremberg and Aschaffenburg. The reoffending profile of these groups will not only be described but also compared with re-offending (further official diversions and convictions) of a control group of defendants who had not taken part in VOM.
