ABSTRACT
The first execution of a juvenile offender on record was in 1642 when Thomas Graunger lost his life in Plymouth Colony, Massachusetts. It was not until 2005, however, that the death penalty was abolished in all states of the USA for those under the age of 18 at the time of their offence. This followed a Supreme Court ruling.
