ABSTRACT
Sorption to organic matter is the key process that controls the toxicity, transport, fate and behaviour of non-polar organic compounds in soils. This class of compounds includes many important environmental pollutants, including polyaromatic hydrocarbons, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and many herbicides and pesticides.
