Energy and climate change
The Development and Climate Programme, using national energy models, has yielded data for the relationships between econom ic growth, energy consum ption and GHG emissions for Brazil, China, India and South Africa. This provides opportunities for system atically assessing what is required in order to align development pathways of these large countries with lower GHG emissions and international clim ate change policy ambitions. First, the baseline scenario results from the Development and Climate national case studies are presented. This is followed by a presentation of alternative policy scenarios that explore how lower GHG em issions can be com bined with achieving development goals through SD policies.
