ABSTRACT

With the world’s rapid population increase and the evolution of civilization during the 20th century, resulting in expanding cities, burgeoning industries and an increase in irrigating farms, more and more water resources are needed for economic development and living improvement. In the near future, this growth process is estimated to continue if changes are not made to our water resources management and development patterns. Thus, water resources will face extreme stress. At the same time, today’s water crisis is, to a large extent, the result of poor water management, causing suffering to billions of people and the environment.
