ABSTRACT
Mr Ashton, Chief Executive of E3G (Third Generation Environmentalism), was appointed in 2006 to be the UK Foreign Secretary’s Special Representative for Climate Change. In this role, he is assisting the UK Foreign Secretary and other ministers to build a stronger political foundation for international action on climate change. Ambassador Ashton has been working closely with other government departments as well as national and international stakeholders to create the conditions for an accelerated shift in investment towards a low carbon global economy, including through the Gleneagles Dialogue on Climate Change, Clean Energy and Sustainable Development, which was launched at the Gleneagles Summit in 2005.
