ABSTRACT

This book has shown that problems associated with pesticide use are still widespread and continue to carry a high cost to users and society. In many situations, a reliance on harmful pesticides as the primary mode for crop protection is still high, while available alternatives remain under-used. This book has also shown that there are several important developments that are converging towards more sustainable crop production and a clean-up of agricultural pest management. Many governments, both in industrialized and developing countries, are tightening policies relevant to pest and pesticide management.
