ABSTRACT

Climate change is a serious environmental hazard that affects communities and economies worldwide. Many of the impacts of climate change are already in place with even more in number and severity expected in the future, seriously jeopardizing and compromising global economic development goals. Although the agents of the impact are diverse and involve significant fluctuations in the amount of precipitation, severity of the winds and rising sea levels, to name a few, rising temperatures are mentioned elsewhere in research literature and media as a major driver (and effect) of climate change and of global warming in particular.
