ABSTRACT
Bioenergy is a field in which there are large knowledge gaps and hence a major need for research. However, the considerable political pressure to act to reform the world’s energy systems means that decisions must be taken now, despite the major uncertainties. WBGU therefore recommends, firstly, implementing robust win-win solutions without delay, while simultaneously scaling up research efforts, some of which will need to be coordinated internationally.
