ABSTRACT

Components of a management framework It is evident from the case material that a critical function of management is to research and develop an understanding of the context in which connectivity conservation management takes place, and continually review and update this

understanding to inform policy, planning and the implementation of management. We have classified the required understanding into three contextual domains: nature, people and management. A guiding vision for a connectivity area was also seen by practitioners as central to all connectivity management functions. Also apparent is that leadership, while important in any conservation management endeavour, is particularly crucial in the establishment and ongoing performance of a connectivity conservation initiative.
