ABSTRACT
Necessities for growing more exemplars The exemplary cities highlighted in Chapter 9 demonstrate that movement towards sustainable transportation can occur in diverse places under differing and often difficult circumstances. Chapter 8 presented a model for approaching sustainable transportation and an outline of what an agenda for accomplishing it might entail. In this concluding chapter, some of the ingredients and lessons learned from the two preceding chapters, in terms of themes or threads that run through successes in sustainable transportation, are distilled into a few of the critical and defining items necessary to ‘grow’ more exemplars.
