ABSTRACT

Since 2007, there have been an increasing number of community organized ‘Open Eco-Homes’ events across the UK, where eco-renovated and eco-new build homes are open to the public. These events have proved extremely popular, and have provided unrivalled opportunities for social learning about energy and greenhouse gas reductions from the homes. They have translated the ‘one size fits all’ approach of national information campaigns into meaningful and appropriate renovations according to the house type, shown the full potential of renovations possible, and brought out the aspiration in insulation.
