ABSTRACT

“Zoroastrianism is the oldest of the revealed world-religions, and it has probably had more influence on mankind, directly and indirectly, than any other single faith.” Zoroaster was the first to teach the doctrines of an individual judgment, heaven and hell, the future resurrection of the body, the general last judgment, and life everlasting for the reunited soul and body. One group of Zoroastrians sought asylum from religious persecution in India, where they were allowed to practice their religion freely. The text of the most ancient Zoroastrian scriptures is an ancient Iranian language, Avestan, akin to the Sanskrit of the Indian Vedas. The Zoroastrian religion adheres to the principle of Asha which is to be achieved by good thoughts, good words, and good deeds. Life is considered as sacred, and all Zoroastrian practices are intended to promote and celebrate life - materially, psychologically, and spiritually.
