ABSTRACT

N. T. Wright's The New Testament and the People of God makes several significant contributions to the field of New Testament studies. Wright was particularly concerned with correcting various interpretations of the New Testament that he observed had been prevalent since the Protestant Reformation. Wright is a careful historian, but his primary motivation is to put himself in a position to do the work of a theologian more skillfully and accurately. Wright is perhaps best known for his many writings. Wright wrote The New Testament and the People of God while he was a lecturer in New Testament at Oxford University. In addition to his academic career, Wright has served in a variety of leadership roles within the Anglican Church.
