ABSTRACT

N. T. Wright's The New Testament and the People of God is the first of six volumes in the series Christian Origins and the Question of God, published by SPCK and Fortress Press. Wright plans to conclude the series with a volume on the Gospels and a final book devoted to early Christianity. Wright has published dozens of monographs and articles over the course of his career, but the series Christian Origins and the Question of God is widely regarded as his greatest literary achievement. Some of the primary themes found in The New Testament and the People of God were addressed in a book Wright published only one year earlier, The Climax of the Covenant: Christ and the Law in Pauline Theology. A common feature of all of Wright's scholarly works is the extensive examination of the primary documents of the early church and of Jews living during the Second Temple period.
