ABSTRACT

The spreading of liquids on solid surfaces is of considerable interest. The dynamic aspects of spreading are particularly relevant in several practical applications in industry, such as coating, adhesive bonding, composite manufacturing, painting and printing. When inks or paints are applied onto dry substrates, they must wet their substrates before solidifying. Similarly, good spreading is required to ensure

interfacial contact between two phases when applying a polymeric adhesive or in the manufacturing of composite materials.
