ABSTRACT

Methods of optical spectroscopy are widely used to study nanomaterials. This area includes different methods of both linear and nonlinear optics. This chapter is focused on linear optical absorption and luminescence. Nonlinear optical spectroscopy is considered in Chapter 8. Experimental studies of linear optical absorption and luminescence in nanostructured materials are most frequently reported in optical literature [Benten et al. (2005); Glinka et al. (2002); Kelly et al. (2003); Kolasinski (2008); Kulzer and Orrit (2004); Nilius et al. (2000); Seidel et al. (2004); Yoffe (2001)].
